What To Expect
A favourite coastal escape for many Melburnians, Inverloch Dog Beach offers a relaxed, dog-friendly atmosphere with a mix of low-tide adventures, calm swimming waters, and nearby facilities. Located just a short stroll from the town centre, this stretch of beach is particularly popular with locals and visitors bringing along their pups.
The western inlet beach area (near Grandview Grove through to Cuttriss Street) is off-leash all year round, while other areas have seasonal restrictions - so it’s a good idea to check the signs when you arrive. During low tide, the sand flats expand dramatically, making it a top pick for zoomies and water fetch sessions. At high tide, the beach is narrower but still perfect for paddling in calm, shallow water.
There’s a grassy reserve with picnic tables and light shade at the western end of the beach, plus easy parking and public toilets. A short drive away, the surf beach offers an alternative vibe, with on-leash access during summer and off-leash freedom the rest of the year.
Inverloch is a welcoming beach town overall - if you’re visiting on the third Sunday of the month, don’t miss the local farmer’s market, which is dog-friendly and full of tasty stalls.
