What To Expect
Located around 50 minutes north of Brisbane, Deception Bay Dog Beach is a spacious, peaceful spot with calm waters, long foreshore paths, and loads of room for sniffing, splashing and strolling. It’s a top pick for dogs who love a bit of freedom, especially during low tide when the beach really opens up.
Dogs are allowed off-leash along the beach between Wallin Avenue and Joseph Crescent, and there’s also a trial off-leash zone on the adjacent footpath - but only before 8:00 AM and after 4:00 PM daily. Outside of these times, dogs must be on-leash, including when arriving or leaving the area. Signage is in place, so make sure to double-check and stay within the rules.
The area has paved footpaths, toilets, picnic areas, and plenty of parking. A café on the boardwalk is a bonus if you’re keen for a post-walk coffee. The vibe is friendly and relaxed, with a mix of locals and visitors enjoying the wide-open space and bay views.
The water is generally calm and perfect for a quick dip, though sea grass and mossy patches can pop up here and there. And as always, don’t forget your poo bags – responsible doggo owners keep this place great for everyone!
