What To Expect
Around 60 kilometres north of Meekatharra, Karalundi Caravan and Camping Park is a peaceful outback stop with a story that goes well beyond accommodation.
The park is operated by Karalundi College, a not-for-profit Aboriginal boarding school and community. Originally established as a mission school in 1954, Karalundi is known as an “oasis in the outback”, with shady grounds and green open spaces that feel unexpected in this remote part of Western Australia. Income from the caravan park helps support the college and its students.
Dogs are welcome on the powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites with prior approval from the park manager. Up to two dogs are permitted per site, and pets must remain on a lead. Dogs are not allowed inside cabins.
The park has spacious sites suitable for caravans, motorhomes and big rigs, along with hot showers, toilets, laundry facilities, a semi-enclosed camp kitchen, barbecues, picnic areas and an air-conditioned café serving drinks, snacks and basic meals. The camping area sits away from the Great Northern Highway, helping create a quieter overnight stop.
Karalundi is an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free community. Travellers arriving on a Saturday should arrange check-in beforehand, as the office closes from Friday afternoon until sunset on Saturday.
