What To Expect
Wooramel River Retreat welcomes dogs on its campsites, a remote station stay on the banks of the Wooramel River on WA's Coral Coast, 120km south of Carnarvon and 2km off the North West Coastal Highway. Dogs need to stay on a lead throughout, and any antisocial behaviour can mean a move-on notice.
Dogs are only confirmed for guests camping on site, not for stays in the retreat's furnished tents or rooms, so check this before booking if you're not bringing your own setup. The campground runs entirely off-grid, with generators allowed in the Riverside and Flats camping areas during set daytime hours.
On-site facilities include naturally heated artesian bore baths, private fire pits, warm showers, and a seasonal cafe with bar service, though dogs aren't permitted in the baths or the cafe's licensed area. The retreat operates seasonally rather than year-round, and suits a proper outback camping stop with a dog rather than a stay in its furnished rooms.
