What To Expect
South Beach in Port Denison is split into off-leash and on-lead zones under the Shire of Irwin's dog exercise areas map, giving dogs room to run at both ends of the beach without losing structure in the middle.
The northern and southern stretches of South Beach are off-leash exercise areas, while the central section, running past the main beach entry, the surf club and a cafe, is a shared on-lead zone. Access is via White Tops Road, with parking at the beach entry.
This suits a walk that mixes free-running time at either end with an on-lead stretch through the middle section near the surf club and cafe, rather than a fully off-leash outing start to finish. Boundaries are shown on the Shire's official map (adopted August 2020) and may be signposted on site.
