Robot vacuum cleaners are the best thing ever to help keep dog hair under control, and I’m yet to meet someone who can convince us otherwise.

The thing is, I love dogs. But dogs shed. It’s a fact of life that can be difficult to cope with sometimes.

A good brushing routine can help manage the shedding, but the single best thing in my experience was to buy a robot vacuum cleaner.

In this article, I’ll share our updated experience with robot vacuums for dog hair with you, as of late 2025. Models have been updated to reflect product availability.

Which robot vacuum is best for pet hair in Australia?

TLDR: For mid-range and high-end options, the Ecovacs Deebot range stands out in terms of value and performance. On a budget, we like the eufy Boost IQ RoboVacs 11S.

The Ecovacs Deebot T30S PRO is our top recommendation for a high-end robot vacuum. It’s an investment but offers unmatched versatility and power, perfect for homes with various flooring types and heavy shedding pets.

High-End: Ecovacs Deebot T30S Pro

✅ Can vacuum and mop. So it tackles various flooring types with ease, perfect for homes with heavy shedding pets.

✅ The stations cleans the mopping pads with 70°C hot water.

✅ Advanced Features: For example, you can let it vacuum all rooms first, then only mop the rooms with hard floors.

If you’re looking for a solid robot vacuum without the fancy bells and whistles, the Dreame D10s is a good option.

Just a heads-up: Unlike the pricier models, this one won’t empty itself, top up its water, or scrub its own mop pads. So you’ll be doing a bit more of the work in comparison. But for the price, it’s a tidy little helper that still makes life with a furry shedder way easier.

Budget-friendly: dreame D10s

✅ Reliable suction power for everyday pet messes

✅ Mops and vacuums in one go

✅ Great value if you’re happy to do a bit of the heavy lifting yourself

How’s Ecovacs different from Roborock for pet hair?

Updated for 2025, the Ecovacs Deebot T30 Pro Omni has emerged as a top contender in the mid-range category for handling dog hair. It stands alongside other noteworthy models, but its combination of features and price makes it an excellent choice for most pet owners.

Ecovacs Deebot T30 Pro Omni Review

Since switching to the Deebot T30 Pro Omni, I’ve appreciated its unique features, offering a different experience compared to our previous Roborock model. Like the Roborock, the T30 Pro Omni also intelligently adapts to different surfaces, smoothly transitioning from mopping hard floors to amplifying suction on carpets, effectively managing pet hair.

Auto-Empty Dock – A Convenient Feature

The Auto-Empty Dock of the Deebot T30 Pro Omni, much like the one in our previous Roborock model, continues to be a convenient feature. It enables the vacuum to automatically dispose of collected debris, minimising the need for manual intervention. Having programmed it to clean twice daily, I’ve found this feature to maintain its hassle-free operation. Our dog, already familiar with the concept from the Roborock, has adapted well to the Deebot T30 Pro Omni too.

Easy to Use App

The app for the Deebot T30 Pro Omni has been a standout aspect of my experience, offering a more user-friendly interface and enhanced functionality compared to the Roborock app. Its intuitive design makes it easy to customize cleaning schedules, track the vacuum’s progress, and receive updates.

Important note if you never had a vacuum robot before:

If you never had a vacuum robot before, I would recommend dedicating some time to desensitise your dog to it, before you leave the two of them alone. My dog showed quite some reactivity towards the vacuum for the first couple of weeks and needed management and positive reinforcement.

The brushes are much better suited for dog hair

Compared to some of our older vacuum robots, the brushes of the Ecovacs Deebot T30 Pro Omni don’t get tangled with pet hair, which is a major benefit.

Overall, I can’t stress enough how brilliant a little robot is for keeping dog hair under control.

My first robot vacuum cleaner for dog hair

In 2019, I bought a Roborock E20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner for $251. I was really happy with the purchase and would describe it as great value for money.

It’s not available for sale anymore, but you might be able to find a second hand one on Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace.

How I used the robot vacuum

I started the robot vacuum each morning before I began my daily routine. Then I’d switch it off when I left the house. Although I still had to vacuum every other day, it did an excellent job of keeping the dog hair under control in the meantime.

So, based on this experience, I honestly believe that even a lower-budget robot vacuum is well worth the investment to help keep dog hair under control.

Why are some robot vacuum cleaners so much more expensive?

To describe the different price points for robot vacuums, some people say that you can divide the vacuums into “smart” and “dumb” ones.

A simple example is my experience with the Roborock E20 I shared above. For example, I would always manually turn it on and off, and manually empty the bin.

If you buy a top-of-the-range robot vacuum cleaner, the robot is “smarter” and can be programmed much more efficiently. For example, it will empty the bin itself, have exceptional navigation skills, and learn about your cleaning habits.
